Winter

Taksing, December, 2019

Winter is here.

Forecasts say this day is supposed to be severely cold. It’s one o’clock at noon and the sun is nowhere to be seen. Oh — but wait!

The sun is here and it’s quite evident that it’s in the mood to play hide and seek. Today is an unexpectedly pleasant day; gushes of wind touch my skin, so gentle, that it reminds of spring at the edge of winter. Birds can be heard chirping away in the distance. Although, there is a different kind of silence all around l— a nice one. The sun and the clouds are idling in peace, sometimes hardly seen but much appreciated. Among these huge, mighty clouds is this one lone plane that flies past them like a small kid cutting across a grass field.

It feels as though stress had never even existed. The air feels so fresh as though pollution had never existed. The eyes can see as far as the brain can imagine, after all, what are we if not beings made of flesh and bone, slaves of our beautiful Master Minds?

Leaves dance like free souls on the loose. My heart beats eagerly, encouraging me to join them and dance, to get lost in this craze, to get lost in this crowd. I hear my master brain command, “No, you’re ill.” And I listen to it, still.
